Use one record per make
Give each project a clear name, even when two makes use the same pattern. Store the pattern, yarn and hook details, notes, current count, and next action under that project. This avoids the “which version of this pattern was I using?” problem.
Keep the pattern library useful
Separate saved patterns into a small number of meaningful groups, such as planned, active, and finished. If your tool does not support folders, use consistent names and notes. Do not keep every download in the active list: the list should help you decide what to work on next.
Record the details you will need later
The useful minimum is yarn, hook size, size or variation, current row or round, and the next instruction. Add a photo or adjustment note when fit or color matters. Short, consistent notes age better than a long diary you will not maintain.

Review the list regularly
