Methods that work
- Physical row counter: Fast and tactile. It works well when one project stays in your hands, but the number can be reset or separated from the project.
- Pen and paper: Write the row number and one short note, such as “repeat 2 of 4.” This is flexible and easy to check.
- Stitch markers: Mark the beginning of a round or a repeat. They are useful for structure, but they do not replace a row count for a long piece.
- Notes or pattern annotation: Add a checkpoint to the pattern itself when you pause. This keeps the instruction and progress together.
- A crochet app: A digital counter can save the current value with project details, which is useful when you switch between projects.
